Mills impose surcharges on service centers which in turn is passed on to us the manufacturer.  Midwest and Southern service centers are buying only what they (and their customers) need.  As a result, mills can hold back a bit on production as a result of a slower demand from the service centers.  Doesn’t this sound like a vicious circle?

The objective of the mills and service centers is to control their inventory levels so they are not stuck with pricey stock.  When the market is not flooded with metal it makes it difficult for us, the manufacturer to have material readily available to process customer orders

Therefore, when your contracts are signed it is best to notify us soon after in order for us to make sure we have the type of material and color you will be needing for that job.
